On behalf of the European Consortium for Accreditation in Higher Education (ECA), AQAS facilitated the training „External Quality Assurance – putting theory into practice“ together with the Kenyan Commission for University Education (CUE). The training took place from 17 to 19 February 2016 in Naivasha/Kenya. The CUE as a Government agency is a central leader in the East-African context of Quality Assurance in Higher Education.

The training contributed to the staff development of CUE, the exchange of experiences between the European and the East-African perspective on Quality Assurance as well as the critical reflection of the lessons learned in the last years. The main topics of discussion were the role of peer reviewers, the specificities of the site visits and means of formulating comprehensive experts‘ reports for transparent decision-making processes.

The forum provided an opportunity for participants to share experiences on global benchmarks in Quality Assurance as well as practically interrogate universal tenets and procedures in the process of accreditation. The participants appreciated the intercultural experience as well as the strengthening of the inter-agency relations amongst internationally acting quality assurance agencies.
